Worth the Wait

If you've walked down Main Street lately, you've probably noticed the fresh concrete. The sidewalks along our corner are poured, cured, and open to foot traffic, and it has been a quiet thrill watching neighbors and visitors stroll past the building again, peeking through the safety fence to see what's taking shape on the corner.

A lot is taking shape inside. And because this project belongs to Hayward as much as it belongs to us, we want to give you an honest update on where things stand.

An Update on Our Timeline

When construction began, we shared our hope that the building would be complete in July 2026. As the finish line came into view, we faced a choice: rush the final details, or take the time to get them right. We chose to get them right.

So here's the updated timeline. In mid-September, we'll begin a soft opening, welcoming our First Light Partners and hosting a select few initial events. This gives our team the time to work out the kinks in day-to-day operations, learn the building, and dial in every part of the experience before we open the doors wide. Then, on Saturday, October 3rd, we'll celebrate our Grand Opening with all of Hayward. Mark your calendar. We've been dreaming about that day for a long time, and we intend to make it one worth remembering.

What's Happening Inside

The short answer: a lot, and some of it is worth celebrating right now.

The interior brickwork is complete, and so are the clerestory finishes high above the Great Room, where natural light now pours down through the building. Crews are deep into the interiors: millwork, lighting, and tile are going in, the final windows are being set, and the espresso bar is mid-build, inching closer to its first pulled shot.

Between now and September, crews will be laying wood flooring, working through finish details, moving in furniture, and completing the final rounds of inspections. These are the details you'll touch every day you spend here, and we want them right.

Thank You, Hayward

To our neighbors on Main Street and to everyone who has waved at the crews, asked about progress at the post office, or simply put up with the fences and the noise: thank you. Construction asks a lot of patience from a community, and Hayward has given us that patience along with a steady stream of encouragement that has meant more to us than you know.

We feel the anticipation, too. Hardly a day goes by without someone stopping to ask when they can come inside. We can't wait to show you. Every decision we've made, from the arched windows to the Main Street-inspired brick, has been about building something that belongs to this town for generations. A few more weeks of care now is a small price for that.

The corner of Main and 63 has waited a long time for its next chapter. It's almost here.

“We could rush to open the doors, but we would rather take a few more weeks to get the details right and give Hayward the kind of place this corner deserves.”
